Common Questions
What makes therapy work?
Counseling offers the opportunity to discuss what matters most to you. People do talk therapy for many different reasons. For some, it may be the rare opportunity to be heard in a safe, non-judgmental space. For others, it may be the place to heal old wounds and recover from trauma or PTSD. Psychotherapy sessions represent a chance to learn how to better cope with symptoms of anxiety or depression, or to manage difficult emotions. Relationships difficulties also often lead individuals and couples to begin treatment.
The therapeutic alliance between a client and therapist is a unique one. Therapy should be a confidential and collaborative process in which both client and therapist have active roles. Empathy, honesty, understanding, trust, and guidance are integral qualities to the relationship. The therapist should meet the client "where they're at" and move at the client's pace. The client's consistency in the work also impacts outcomes.

How long will I be in therapy?

How do I pay for sessions?
Thrive is an out of network provider with all major insurance companies. You may be eligible for reimbursement, depending on your benefits. You may want to contact you insurance provider to ask if you have out of network benefits for mental health; if you have a deductible; and at what rate you will be reimbursed.
If you have out of network benefits Thrive will simplify the process for you by providing you with a document that contains all of the information and details your insurance company will want before reimbursing you. It typically takes insurance carriers 3-4 weeks to issue payment.
